Rotary Club of Shrewsbury's Severn New Santa Sleigh 🛷

Following cancellation of last year’s switch-on of Shrewsbury’s Christmas lights, a Rotary Santa is looking forward to the return on Wednesday.

Shrewsbury Severn Rotary’s Santa will be returning to the club’s familiar spot at the bottom of Pride Hill for a three-hour stint from 5.00 pm to 8.00 pm.

Santa is looking forward to meeting and greeting many enthusiastic youngsters during the three hours on what will be a first for Shrewsbury – a brand new ultra-modern sleigh.

The new design is different from any sleigh that has ever been designed and built before. And it will be visiting some of the famous streets and supermarkets in Shrewsbury throughout the Christmas period.

Said Shrewsbury Severn Rotary Club president David Morris: “We are hoping that the attraction of Santa and our brand new sleigh will attract many families to the switch-on during the three hours.

“We are hoping the event will help us raise several hundred pounds for local charities.”

Rotary club of Shrewsbury Severn's recent tour of the Shrewsbury Flax mill .

On Fri 13th October about a dozen of the Shrewsbury Severn Rotaty members visited the Shrewsbury Flax Mill and were treated to a tour of the Mill and Maltings, this was particularly enjoyable  because as a wheelchair user I had been unable to access the main building due to their brand new lifts being inoperable, following lengthy communication with English Heritage, they were fixed and we enjoyed the tour

Here is The latest update on the serious problem of an overgrown hedge on Ellesmere Road in Shrewsbury, causing many problems for pedestrians and wheelchair users like myself. The Shropshire Council have been notified many times about this, but still have not addressed the problem, either by issuing an enforcement notice on the land owner (it's a developer) or cutting it themselves and charging the landowner!
This is a serious matter and could potentially cause a serious collision
